Default 2001 Polaris Sportsman 400 Winch Mounting Help

My dad decided to buy a winch for his 2001 Polaris Sportman. I have have a 2005 Sportman which has the wiring and contactor mounting area pre-installed from the factory. Does anyone know a good place on the 2001 model to place the contactor at? I'm the one doing this project so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the tools to build a bracket but I jsut need a good location to place it first.

I mounted the contactor directly under center panel up front next to other wiring/engine controls on our 02 magnum on a cross bar. Easy to access plenty of room and stays fairly dry up in there. An 01 sportsman should be the the same under the hood.

weclome to the forum. you pretty much can mount it anywhere. i chose to mount a few tat i did under the fender well on the frame. some have out them inthe tool boxes for protection but i have found that water/mud really doesn't seem to bother them. imo
