Default so when is polaris going to get the message?

All the complaints i read are about their service. When people talk about a reliable atv polaris is at the back of the list. I find myself questioning why I bought a new one. With all this talk about poor service. I know a lot of companies that have gone bankrupt because they had poor service.

LOL is there a 30 day return policy?????

i can say i havnt had many problems at all with my used popos. I have a 94 400 2 stroke that has been rock solid and a 05 800 that has been trouble free as well...

That said my brother bought a brand new 500 ho and the front wheel coil was bad with the AWD. The AWD would engage intermittently. Simple fix right? Took almost a year to get it fixed and spent over a month at the dealer each time it was there... pathetic. Polaris service is just shy of horrible and i will probably never buy a brand new one because of it. Ill just keep buying the used ones so i dont have a warranty to worry about and all the bugs are worked out

But like i said, i have had no problems with mine, there are people who go around and just troll that polaris is junk and its just not true.... i think any problem just gets blown out of proportion because someone doesnt get good service. every atv has problems.

I have always had good experience with the two places I dealt with the first place was a mom and pop shop when they retired they closed up the son just sold bicycles. The next place is a big dealer they are high tech EXPENSIVE but fair. I worked service for a car dealer, remember they have to do what popo tells them. Look around at the place you deal with is well managed, this is cookie but is it clean, or a mess. If its a mess go somewhere else I know all of the car techs that read this will agree well managed shop means everything, for the techs and customers. JMO

I have had bad service or they didn't know or it was a ripoff from the dealer I bought our first 2 Polaris from, used 2 other dealers in town after that and have not had any problem with them or their prices.
One of the 2 went out of business last year because of the economy, of course it would be the 1 closest to home.

In my experience it all comes down to the ppl running the dealership. I have owned kawi, yamaha, honda and popo... every company has their problems but i think its the dealer or shop you go to. There is a honda powerstore near me that i wouldnt go in if i got payed to... but the 2 local popo dealers are great ppl and take care of their costomers. just like anything else in life, it comes down to ppl.

I personally think the problem is at the dealership level. In general, I have found that I know more about Polaris than any of the techs because they sell and service all types of bikes and they do not have any respect for the Polaris brand. Most of the techs think a bike has to be Red or Yellow for it to be good. The large dealer in my area is a HORRIBLE representative of Polaris and I REFUSE to support them. The bad thing is they can beat anyone’s deal locally so I actually go out of the state to buy a quad. I have nothing against other brands, but I will not have a dealership tell me that another brand is better SIMPLE because they make more $$ selling the other brands...

Good thing about Polaris is I have never needed work done on the 500's with 4,000 miles each that was not my fault( 1 belt and clutch) or normal wear(1 belt). With 1000 miles on the 850XP I only need the 2 recalls done since I have now replaced the throttle my wife broke.

I know this makes since in almost all cases.....but not every case.

My mechanic really is almost to good to be true. He charges very reasonable ($35 per hour)......LOVES working on old bikes and quads.......buys salvaged and non-runners and breaks them down into tubs so he has TONS of hard to find parts (just the other day I needed a brake caliper for a 1975 CB550 Honda....took him about 2 minutes and he came back with one in his hand). He really knows his stuff - hes a top notch mechanic and all around great guy. I probably do $500 a month in business with him and Ive ALWAYS left 100% happy and satisfied.

.........but him and his dad are doing this out of a small building. There is crap literally stacked to the ceiling everywhere......its a 100% horrible mess. There are spots you cant even SEE the floor.

Using your theory I would have walked out of the best shop Ive ever known.

I think it all comes down to the dealership- not Polaris per-say.
I used to do warranty work on Allison transmissions for Detroit Diesel- It all depended on how we wrote the failure up- I could make a "non warranty" issue sound like a warranty issue pretty easy. The shop makes more money from non-warranty repairs over a flat rate warranty issue. Hell- we would even write up mechanic mistakes as warranty just to cover the out of pocket cost to the shop. Not saying it's right- just saying it happened. If someone is getting poor service at a dealer, probably just the dealer being a dick, not polaris.

There's a shop in milford, ma just like that. metal building with a dirty sign hanging off the side, paint ball splats & graffiti all down the back- inside is 5000 sf of racks & bins stacked 20' high- bikes, atv's and sleds all over the place- total sh*t hole- but the owner is nothing but pure genius with a tool in his hand and if you ask for a part he'll say "ohh ya- got one of those right over here in this bin" cracks me up every time.
