Need some advice on tires.

Hey all. I've not been on for a while. Just busy with work and life. Anyway, I got my snorkel kit from Yasky ATV installed finally. It looks really good and pretty much fit without issues. Even though it didn't say to do it in the instructions, I still used a good caulking to seal the connection just for better piece of mind. Had it out once since and it worked fine. Now I'm looking at maybe newer tires. I've got a 2" lift from High Lifter coming soon, and was thinking about going from a shorter, wider tire like the Kenda Executioner 538, which I use a 26x12x12 in the back and a 26x10x12 in the front, to something taller and narrower. Maybe the Outlaw's in 29.5x10x12 on all four corners. I'm looking to gain a few inches of ground clearance and am curious about using taller tire in the mud. Can I get some feedback from some more knowledgeable members on shorter/wider vs taller/narrower on tires for mud, overall riding, etc. How are the Outlaws when not in the mud? Are they really rough on trail?
Thanks again for any advice.

You will experience a very significant loss of low end power with a jump up in tire diameter like you are proposing. Not knowing what you ride, I can only say that unless you are riding a 700 or larger quad, you will be unhappy with the decreased performance caused by going so much larger. If you are looking at running in deep gooey mud, you will want as much low end torque as you can get.
If you are going to run tires that tall, you will need to do some engine and clutch mods to keep the power, and even then, unless you can swap gears out (if they make them for your quad) you will still not have the wheelspinning power you have with the shorter tires.
Some idiot will probably chime in and say he runs 30's on his stock 450 with no problems, but the laws of physics simply won't support such claims (beware of the bullsh!t)
No experience with Outlaws, but I have used Mudlites with great results, as well as 589's...I can recommend both of those tire lines as handling mud very well, and still being relatively comfortable on the trail

I'm running an Arctic Cat 700 H1 SE, 2009. I've got it chipped, and snorkeled and am adding a 2" lift kit next month. I know I have the power for 28's easy. A clutch kit and I could handle the 29.5's, but will stay with maybe 28's for now. Sorry I forgot to put the make and model of my quad on the original post. The only tires that look to fit the bill for me are the Gorilla's or the Outlaws, both being a very serious mud only tire. Both around $200/tire around here. I'll keep looking around I guess. Thanks for the input

be sure and use some axle spacers in the front as the front axles tend to want to slip out of the front diff when using a lift that really just separates the lower control arm from the shock to achieve said lift. also you may want to get some wheel spacers as your machine will be more top heavy because your wheels with the lift will want to tuck into your fenders, giving you a narrower track. this will make your machine a little less stable on turns and inclines. a wider track will not entirely fix this, but will help to improve it. i have a 2" hi-lifter lift on my 07 500 and i did not yet get the spacers (i can still fit it in my horse trailer though). i have used a friends spacers and it made a good bit of difference though. i machined a set of 1/4 inch spacers but have not yet ordered the longer studs to use them though.
