Default tires

I just put some swamp lites on my 400i, just stock size. I wanted to put bear claws on my bike for the long wear. I called royal distributing and they said they had them in stock (bear claws), so a three hour drive just to find out they did not have them. So they gave me a deal on swamp lites. After doing some reading on the net. I found out that they wear quick, also found out that the bear claws are discontinued. What a shame the bear claws on my thee wheeler still look like new. Just would like to have some input from members using swamp lites. I would also like to know where i can buy bear claws 25-10-12 or 25-12-12. thanks.

Well ive got just about 1,000 miles on my 28" swamplites(the lugs are bigger) and i just went down and measured the lugs. When they were brand new they had 1.25" (1 1/4tread). I now have 1 1/8 left. So i used 1/8 of tread in 1,000 miles. Id have to say thats pretty darn good. I had them on my 500 for about 300 miles then i put them on my 700 when i bought it new and it now has 750 miles on it. I mostly ride hard pack trails, with mud holes, but have ridden large rocky areas(wyoming, and tennessee), some black top but i try to stay off. The little holes on the top of the tread are slightly on them still so you have an idea how much i still have left looking at yours. So, i strongly disagree with "they wear fast." Sure it could be where i ride and how i ride. Here's, a couple tips i do to keep my tires in shape.
1st i had bought the same size tire all the way around so i can rotate them, plus 28"s only come in one size. I have only rotated them once and that was 3 months ago.
2nd, the correct air pressure.
3rd, i use 4wd going up steep rocky terrain so it don't spin on the rock.
I think you'll end up liking them, i do.

Thanks for the info, mudslingingfool. I like the looks of the tires, but have not had a chance to test them out yet.

If you want some tires that work very well in a variety of situations you may want to check these out (MudGears)... They also wear like iron...
