Default Kodiak YFM450 lubrification

Gentlemen

I just acquired a 2003 Kodiak YFM 450 and cannot find where to grease the beast. Can you tell me where are the grease fittings on the suspension and other places, if there are any?

Thanks for your help

I have a kodiak 400 and a grizz 660. As far as i know... its just the engine oil, and the front and rear differential 80W gear oil. I have never come accross a grease fitting that you would use a grease gun with. The only place that i know of that you use that type of grease is in the C/V boots. You will probably be doing a C/V boot job this year only becuase its a common thing to get torn.... keep your grease on the ready for that... until then... your good.

Hello FeetOnThePegs

Many thanks for answering my question. I am now more knowledgeable as far as greasing my Kodiak is concerned.

You are a gentleman, sir.

I know that your 2003 is a solid rear axle, I would have to think that there is a universal joint or two on the front 4x4 shaft coming from the engine to the front differential. I am sure there is at least 1 grease fitting on that.

I do happen to have a Yamaha Manual for that quad, well all 2003-2006 Kodiak 450's.

So why don't you email me at: snowwmax@yahoo.com and I will send you a copy.

Regards,
-CS-

I actually had that rear swing arm disintegrate on me a while back. I had to take off the drive shaft to the rear diff (final gear case) to get the job done. There is a boot at the front of that that has a long spring that is supposed to keep the grease in by the universal joint. mine is loose so water gets in there .... but anyway.... you might pop off that spring on the boot that is on the end of the drive shaft closest to the engine and get some grease in there if you have an urge. I dont remember seeing any actual grease fittings back that way though. Please report back if you happen across any.
