Default Outti 500

I'm looking to get a utility quad to do some trail riding. I went to the local dealer to check out a 07 King Quad 450, but needed way too many parts replaced. They did have a 08 Outti 500 that was in really nice condition with 1500 miles on it. Everything was tight and only had the usual scuffs in the plastic. They also had a 04 Sportsman 700 in the same condition and for about the same price. I don't know too much about either of these quads. Do you guys have any thoughts with problem areas to look for. I will only be doing trail riding and I am not really into deep mudding. Thanks for any input.

Both are really good quads and will do what you want. Both ride super smooth with IRS.

For me it's like this:
Want tons of power, get the 700. Want a lot of power, get the BRP.

I would get the BRP because of the year. If I mudded a lot I would get the 700.

They were asking 4000 for the Outti and 3900 for the Sportsman. I will add that the Outti had new tires on it.

I would have considered it. What do you think of that Outlander? I know the Rotax is a great engine in their sleds. I really like to have EFI, but most carbs are pretty easy to work on. The Mikuni that is on my old Yamaha is the same as I had on my snowmobiles.

My son has the Rotax 500 on his 09 Renegade. We just had it out for its first long ride yesterday. It will beat any 500 4x4 stock. It also got an incredible 32 mpg! Compared to my (heavier) Polaris Sportsman X2 500. Great engine. Can-Ams are a little weak in the frame department to me. We did a frame modification on his Rene. If it were me I'd need a more utility oriented machine. Either the Can-Am or Polaris would be great choices. Both have nice comfortable rides with a slight nod to Polaris. The 700 will give you a better launch and better towing.
