Today was the first day I second guessed my decision to buy the DS, after I road our UAE Desert Challenge Team Rotax/Can-AM Outty 800. I was gonna race the Pred this year, but jumped to the DS and didnt have time get set up, so I was pulled into the Outty Team for support. You can see pics of it here. It has the Woods Stage 1, and man does it sound mean. Sounds like a v8, no kidding!! And man does it pull, even with all the added weight. I cant wait to get ahold of the new Renagade. The Race actually starts tomorrow. Today was the Prologue to determine starting position. You can follow us from here!. We are #71 (Team Rotax/Can-Am Outty 800).

Thanks cynick! A little bad news....The Outty 800 pilot went down hard today going over a dune. Dont have all the details, but from what I have been told is possible broken back. Started 15 out of 71 in bike/quad class, and was 2nd in quads after checkpoint 1.

Man that sounds terrible. Too bad you didn't have enough lead time to get into contact with Epic here in the states. They are the ones that run the Can-Am desert racing program and have a more experience setting an Outlander up for racing than anyone, plus they have a number of parts that would help as well including better braking, and increased suspension travel. Maybe for future races you can get a hold of me through PM and I can get you all in contact with them, plus if you do run the DS in the future, they have all you need for that as well.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope he is ok. Friend of my is bussy setting up his Outlander 800 for the Paris to Dakar race. U can follow him his name is Cornelle de Villiers from South Africa He won the race i think in 2004 on a DS 650. I am holding thumbs for him. He will have some pretty good ideas for as far as setting up etc.

i cant believe you guys were running an xt, with the bumpers and winch still on. i have 3 friends ( one being THE BOM) with the stage 1 kits on their 800's and they really do well. the only thing i dont like is the location of the air filter. if you are doing anything other than light trail riding or drag racing theres great possibility of getting the filter wet. good luck and hope your guys do well!

Thanks guys!
Update on rider:
Crushed L1, destroyed L2-L3, broken L4. Not sure what destroyed means. Didnt say anything about being paralized, so that is good.
Ya, they wanted to leave it as it did when it rolled off the floor, minus the Stage1, just to show people the power/perfomrance even with all the equipment on it. Kind of put it together in about 4 weeks, but Epic is ont eh list for the enduros.
