Question 07 sportsman 800 efi booging at about 1/4 throttle

newbie to this site... i have a 07 sportsman 800 efi. bought used. ran great when i first bought it. but now at about 1/4 throttle motor boogs down like not getting enough fuel or air. once past that position bike runs fine. doesn't do it at idle or when reving motor up in neutral or park. have messed with tps but still studders at 1/4 throttle. have checked plugs, air filter, mas airflow etc.. noticed bikes seems like it running rich.... have read several forums but nothing similar to this problem... would greatly appreciate any suggestion or coments..

welcome to the forum. they do seem to run rich for sure. try to take the filter out to see if that improves it. it just leans it a little to see if it is running rich and causing the bog. most likely not, but got to start w/ sometining as you seemed to have checked some other avenues.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested in the service manual, that should help you track some things down.

Check for ecu codes by cycling the key 3 times and leaving the key on the third time. The instrument cluster will display any codes if present and then will display "End" after displaying any codes

The tps is factory set and if you re position it it has to be reset to correct voltage at closed throttle and then the idle screw has to be reset to correct idle voltage first! From your description sounds like the t-bap might have a shorted wire and possibly needs the harness repair kit or could be the tps harness.Repair kit is offered for tps also. Just a thought.

Code 22 is -TPS Circuit: open or short to ground
or -TPS Circuit: short to battery

thanks for your reply and your help. went to polaris and asked what may be the problem. refered to bent butterfly valve in thumb throttle housing. which can be bent by jacking with the throttle adjustment on handle bar. and yes i was jacking with that when all this started. so i think dued is probably right. also said you have to have it reset by tech or someone with proper tools.
