A question for sportsman owners who got progressive springs.

I order the progressive front springs from dennis kirk, on backorder have to call next week. Anyways, I was wondering how hard is it to change the springs and put the progressive ones on? I hope that its not to hard and that I don't have to take the fenders off.

I bought the Polaris Firm springs for the front of my '99 sp. The ride is stiffer but it handles better in corners. I did all of my work with the fenders on, and it wasn't bad at all. The only problem to watch out for is to not let the drive shaft fall out of the C.V., when you disconnect the top of the shock.

You will have to lift the front of the machine and support it (safely)to remove the front wheels. The side you are working on will have to have the "A" arm supported because the strut is the only hardware controling the A arm movement arc. I compressed the spring first then removed the nut from the top of the strut, this is where the A arm wants to drop!! If it drops too far the drive splines will pull out of the C.V. unit(Which sometimes can get kind of ugly). With the spring already being compressed it will swing out (somewhat) so you can pull the strut out of the strut housing. Then replace the spring and reverse this whole conversation!! To make a long story longer; if you are adding a big wheel kit you will need at least a 1" lift(in the front) to keep the tires from scrubing, this is the time to install it so you don't have to do this thing all over again later!! This was my way of doing the spring change, I ain't saying it the best but it was easy and quick this way!!
