Xplorer Problem
#1
I have a 95 xplorer and It has been running great and today my neice wanted to go for a ride so I started it up and put it in gear and it revs up but its not going anywhere then it will slowly go then slows down Is my belt slipping? If so how do I change it or adjust it? It has been great to me up to this point and I dont understand out of the blue why it is doing this.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
John

if your sure it's going to gear all the way then take off your clutch cover and check out the belt and where it sitting in the secondary clutch(clutch on the transmision). it should be a little above the top of the clutch. if the belt is not burned or wore out then as TLC mentioned the secondary buttons might be just worn out.

Well I got some free time today and I loosened the clutch cover I couldnt get it out and water came pouring out I just got it a month or two ago and I let it set out one night because the garage was full and it just so happened it rained but I didnt think it would hurt it any but apparently it did
.. lesson learned... I have ordered a repair manual and am waiting for it to arrive.. it will move around better but its not 100% yet.. I will tear it apart once the manual arrives and keep you posted I do beleive the belt might been a little streched and might need replaced.. Crossing my fingers that is it... btw thank you both for your help

Yes the snorkel is at the top.. Idk if the previous owner just went wading through water with it or what but there was alot in it making it slip I think I may have to get another belt just in case..because I just rode it a little and it still seems like its slipping
