What kind of racing again? These days just pick your favorite color and go. Can-Am had some really tempting deals recently. The Yamaha R and X quads are awesome(well so is the original YFZ, but I am biased!) Polaris has those killer KTM motors that are very worthy of building a racer around. Heck, I would take any one of the current 450s out there!

Well, the engines are sweet. I have a bit of seat time on the KTM 525, torque monster and very smooth. Never owned a Polaris however. For the record, I also like the Zuk, Honda, and Kawie. Most of them have some quirks and deficiencies, but that stuff can be addressed aftermarket.

If you want the cream of the crop racer either the YFZ450r, Suzuki LTR450Am 4 or the Can-Am 450XC is the way to go. Sure there are others Like the Honda and Kawasaki but the 3 listed above along with the KTM 450's are the most race ready out of the box!

I ride a Kawi but like the others say any 450 will work great with a few aftermarket parts.
