Water flooded my engine
#1
I recently went into really deep water with my new outlander 500, it was totally submerged for about a minute. My friend had to tow it back it back home, we turned it up to let the water go out the exhaust and I drained the oil to let out a lot of water, fortunately no water went into the cvt. It can run now but runs funny, it normally idles at 1300 rpm but now it's at 1600 also the top speed went down. Should I have done anything else to it?

I fix up a couple of drowned ATVs, You did ok, Thats a efi throttle body so you have no carb bowl to drain, also drain the front and rear differentials, they have vent tubes that go to the air box, did you drain the air box? Some times you should change the oil twice to really flush out the water. Just use cheap automotive wal mart 10w-30 oil for the first oil change since it will not be in there long.
No big deal even if you get water in the belt housing, you just drain it and they dry out pretty quick.
