07 ds650 rear shock questions

Default 07 ds650 rear shock questions

ok so i was looking over my ds and found out that the air cannister for the rear shock had no air.its probably been that way for a while.when i ride it it feels normal.i added air and it holds it in just wondering what the air is for.am i missing out on something by riding it without air or is there any difference. any help or suggestions would be great!!! thanks

it needs to be charged with nitrogen, around 280psi [check your manual for sure] it keeps the oil from foaming and makes the shock work correctly

Default Fyi

Answer to other question asked over in CAT.

That is normal when the shock is under lubricated. Spray some grease or chain wax on the bushings and bolts at the top of the shock and sit on it a few times. It should go away.

Default nitrogen

I have taken my shocks to a local dealer and had them charged. They charge me 10$ to do it. It doesn't have to be a Can Am dealer, most with a service dept will do it.

wow taking the shock off is a bi*ch . im gonna see if i can tow it over to costco maybe they will fill it.
