nitrous or 440 for my 2000 400ex???
#1
i have a stock 2000 400ex that i plan to start modifying soon. i haven't been able to find anyone that actually uses nitrous on a 400(if you know of someone please let me know)...everyone seems to just go with the engine kit. i know it costs money to fill the bottle when you want to use it, but at $500 for the kit you could fill the bottle quite a few times for the price of a 400 kit. i was just curious as to how much HP the 440 kit actually adds to a stock bike...and the pros and cons of going nitrous over a 440. thanks for any advice!

it would cost $3.00 a pound and you would either have a 2.5lb bottle or 2 1.5lb bottles. running about 8-10hp shot(which is about a third of the hp that the 400 already has), you should get at least 3 full runs per lb.(1st gear through top of 4th). plus you don't have to worry about any reliability problems. just a thought
let me know what you guys think...and also what is the going rate for quality 440 kit with labor and all the bells and whistles? who has a good website for these kits? thanks

i put it on my old 85' ATC125M a few years back. Ran me $105 install kit plus $5 every refill that lasted me a days worth of thrills. It made the gutless ATC into a tire smokeing dry pavement cookie cutting dune screaming mind tweaking beast! I had the full boost on it, and it ate a rod after a few months, but talk about the looks on guy on banshees gave me!

Just like what JRM said,"It went like crazy until he blew the rod".That isn't worth it to me anyway.Carrillo makes a rod for the 400EX and the price and install is around $1200.00 I'd buy the 440 and have the power...Nitrous is tough on the bottom ends and it's temporary.

nitrous is very reliable and it is almost hard to mess something up if it is done properly. i have installed several kits on cars and have had years of fun and not had a single problem yet. if you use all the safety features and make sure it has plenty of fuel you shouldn't have any trouble...knock on wood
eventhough i am a nitrous freak, i am still leaning towards the 440 but with a low enough compression to add some nitrous later on
thanks guys

if ya got the money get both!! nitrous is ultra trick but i would go for the 440 first cuz like one person said it is constant power. either way u go you'll have some serious power and speed.
