I had seen on youtube some guys that had spare tire carriers on their sportsman. I cant seem to find it again. Anyone seen or know where one can be purchased? This was a sportman atv club that had them mounted up front. I want to check out some design. I am thinking it would be nice to make something for my X2. I would like to make a rear bumper for it that would integrate a spare tire carrier. Any thoughts?

I have seen that. Thinking that it would be better to drop the center of gravity and put it on an angle just abouve the hitch. Maybe create a bumper that would attach it. The X2 has a ton of room. You would lose the ability to dump the box when the tire is there, but how often do you need the dump when out on the trail.

 

Lighter to just put "slime" in the tires or carry a can of "Fix a flat" then a extra tire and rim. You cant just carry a tire, I need a tire shop to put a ATV tire on a rim.

 

I have not changed a tire yet. On the DS motorcycle I spoon them on and off all the time. I need to try that at home with the atv tires. You have to be able to spoon them on and off, right?

 

Your not going to crow bar a ATV tire on a rim without wreaking the rim. Spoons are fine for a bicycle.

If so I would be careful with how much stress you put on the receiver hitch in the back. I bent mine using a groundhog-max disk to put in food plots for hunting.

 

Putting the tire ON the rim is absolutely no problem. The first side goes on without tools of any kind. The other side can be put on with nothing but a screw driver if that is all you have.

Getting the old tire off the rim is the problem. We did it once in the woods. We ran over the tire with a truck to break it down.
