Default 2007 Polaris 500 X2 is dead

I am hoping someone can provide some help! 2007 Sportsman X2 with a dead battery. Went to the dealership, bought a new battery, installed it, and now...well....nothing....dead. No power to anything. No lights, not EFI clicks.....nothing.

The old battery was dead, but it still had enough power to make the EFI "click", and try to start the engine...so, the X2 worked ok with the old battery. new battery seems fine.

I think it is a fuse, but I cannot fine a fuse anywhere on this thing?!?! The 800's have a fuse panel in the front, but the 500's do not? Any ideas of what could be wrong? Please help....I am stuck?

Please forgive me for asking this. Is the engine shut off switch on the left handlebar in the off position? The reason I ask is I did this once and drove myself nuts for about a half hour. Probably not the problem. I couldn't find where the fuse panel was in either my owner's manual or repair manual. There is a panel under the lid of the front box that you can pop off. Not sure what is under there.

my wife drove herself nuts with ours when hers would not crank because it was in gear. but the instrument cluster still came on. My fuses are under the front cover.

that is a fiar question. Yep, I check it, just to make sure. I also checked to make sure I did not reverse the battery (better to be safe than sorry, you know?).

Yes, no fuses where the 800 would have them.....in the storage area. I am at a total loss, but I am almost 100% it HAS to be a fuse issue. I found some online schematics, but they do not show a fuse?

Also checked that it was in park....but you are right, there is no power to the intr. panel either...so, it seems to be a fuse issue (I hope). The 2007 (500) does not seem to have fuses?

sounds like a bad relay... If you have (or can get) a voltage meter I would check to see if there is power to the starter and if there is, then I would check to see if there was power to the injector.

Checked voltage a couple of night's ago....voltage from batter to cylinoid (sp?), but no voltage across the cynoloid (from red to red on the cynoloid). That would explain the "no start", but (I assume) the instr panel should still come on? It may be a relay that is tied back to both. Just wish I knew where the relay was!?!?

I don't know about a 07 but my Polaris shop manual says that the fuse/relay panel is located by the ecu on the 08 500 x2

The solenoid is not supposed to have current across it until you turn the key. If you want to check the solenoid jump power from the hot red wire to the little exciter wire (probably 18 gauge) and it should roll over it still wont start because the there will be no power to the ignition system. Do you have a front storage box on this bike I have the 2010 HO so i don't know if they are the same. Do you know that the fuse block in the front storage case is under a rubber cover? and just in case you should have a pop out cover under the handlebar headlight. It could be around that area that is were a lot of circuits cross. just put both hands on the top of the cover on either side and pull forward then up. you might find what your looking for. good luck.

there are no fuses on the 500..
everything is controlled by the ecm on the front of the machine.
Here is a link to the factory service manual for this machine..
2007 Polaris Sportsman 450 500 X2 Service manual (download torrent) - TPB

you will have to test your ecm..
