My cousin has a 2000 raptor the transmission locked up too. A piece of 4th gear was wedged in 5th gear. When he put his in gear it would make a lound banging noise. Only gear he had was reverse. That's how he got home. This might be the problem with yours.

Warriors have a bearing in the tranny that is kinda bad for wearing out and screwing up the trans. I dont think that this would be the problem on your bike as this is usually something that happens after like 5 years or more. You could have a bend shift fork or something could have siezed up because of the cold water on the hot motor. Why would you ride in a freezing cold river anyways??
