Default Help. 03 Polaris 700 Sportsman. No Spark

I could really use some help with my "no spark" issue. It is a 03 700 Sportsman. I backed it into the garage, shut it off. Went to fire it a week later and nuttin. No spark. I have unhooked the black wire to eliminate the "kill" circuit at the CDI.
I do notice that the voltage regulator has what I would call a "hot bulge" in it. (Looks like it has melted on the inside) It has always looked like this tho. This quad rolled about 150 feet down a ravine, I bought it from a buddy and rebuilt it. (I think the damage to the regulator was from a short in the headlight system when it rolled.
I found some ohm readings to check the stator and it shows to be good. Battery is brand new and has plenty of juice.

I don't really wanna buy the "update" kit for $430+ the hassle of install, but should I anyways? Anyone have a voltage regulator that they removed for the updated kit?

does it turn over? or all systems dead? there is a red wire off the starter relay on left side outside frame just into rear wheel well that runs power forward to controls from battery cables. I broke this a few times it kills everything, otherwise check all wires at regulator near radiator top . Or maybe that bulge is a tumor!

Hello. Everything works except for the ignition. Turnes over, speedo works, all lights, etc.

If doesn't have spark and all connections good, then either the Ducati coil pack or stator has gone out. I WOULD NOT try to find replacement parts as they will go out again! I've been seeing this more and more recently. Just get the kit when you can. OPT P.S. I have a MT6700 Colt H-bar 1 in 9 twist, real tack driver!
