Default 2001 6x6

Ok guys. I am replacing the motor in a 2001 6x6 500. I installed a 2003 500 engine in it. My question is. On the top of the carb there is a little nipple or elbow coming out of it. And also stickin out of the valve cover of the engine is a little nipple or elbow or whatever you want to call it. Should there be a hose connecting those two nipples? Or can I just leave them capped off?
Any help would be appreciated as I want to get this out of my garage tonight.
Thanks

The only 500 carbs I've seen with a tube and rubber block off plug were on the 2004 or 2005 Ranger (the carb should have 2 tamper proof screws on the top of the carb) OR are you talking about the vacuum tube on the carb? This was supposedly a non rebuildable carb (but I have gotten in em) As far as a tube on the valve cover??? Sure you have a 500??? Swedish model by mistake/snow mobile engine?? What did the engine come out of? Pictures if possible. OPT

Im sure I have a 500. It was on the sticker stuck to the engine along with the yr it was manufactured. I got it running last nite. Just left the tow nipples capped off. I am asuming the are for vacume?? I just used the old carb that was on the original motor.
Thanks though.
