Default new member getting too old to walk! help?

Hi All,

I'm just an old hunter getting tired of the long hikes. bought an old atv a few years ago, Now I'm trying to get it running. 1985, yes 1985, yamaha moto 4 200. new battery, turns over, getting fuel, no spark.

How do i test the cdi, the stator, the ignition system in general?

this looks like a great site, hope you all can help me. thanks.

Archer1981, Welcome aboard.

Where might you Live? I'm Located in N.Y.S. Also Could you Gather a Pic of your machine and Post it?

As I Know a Local with Lots of older trimoto's and moto's and he may have spare parts willing to part with cheap....

How has your Archery Season gone so far?The wife and I took this year off from Archery and Shotgun hunting.. Lack of Time Practising with the Bows, also never put up a tree stand.

Good Luck and best wishes

thank you scottie,

Thanks for the reply, this has been a slow archery seaason for me in SC. 1 7pt buck, 2 hogs in early spring. Been working too much. Fat and out of shape with no desire to get back in shape! I should push that 4 wheeler where I want to hunt for the exercise, lol. I could not imagine a year without hunting. it is too deeply set in my life.

Has anyone got a specific answer to my query? what voltages should I be looking for from the cdi, coil, and stator?

Or maybe I could just check continuity, what would the resistance readings be for the same items?

Thanks.
