Thumbs up about to beat this horse deader

Been having clutch issues some of you know about, So what should I do to get THE MAXIMUM out of 07 sportsman 500EFI, want a little more bottom end and I want the most I can out of this machine w/o dropping race teams budget. I plow snow with her, trail rides, fetch up monster bucks previously struck by a rage. My buddies have the big bores, tired of being behind em, my good buddt chad says"sholda bought an 800!" Hindsidht is a real bitch especially when you left the dealership you wished you woulda got the 800. Looking for info from real world guys and what they've done to bring the playin field a closer for us 500 guys?

first stop trying to play w/ the big bores as the 500 will never do it as theres way too much differnce in power. you may get better end grunt w/ a clutch kit set up, but at the loss of top end. w/ a kit, the bike may turn on faster/quicker, but your taking away from your top end performance. imo

I agree with Stendori, it will be hard to stay with them on top speed. However, it sounds like for the things you discribe, top speed is not an issue. For me, I hardly if ever get a chance to let er run, as trees buzzing by at over 30 MPH some how gets me thinking about how hard a instant stop would be on the old bones.
My fun, comes from acceleration and the ability to go just about anywhere, and this comes from traction. So I'm thinking a good set of tires and a clutch kit might be what you need to hang with em.

I really like the EPI Sport/utility clutch kit I got for my 02 700. Its just better all around, better bottom end, way better mid range and backshifting and same top speed. The original primary spring it came with it was a little too aggressive for my so I went down one, but thats just me. I am very happy. The 07 500 is a great machine, other than drag racing and over 60MPH runs your machine should be able to keep up with an 800 fine. Its more about the rider than the machine.

Bye The Way, I got my kit on EBAY brand new for $63 and it included bothe springs, primar weights and Helix, its is a completly matched kit.

Get off the roads and start riding the trails. Where we ride a 800 Outlander cant leave a 300 King Quad behind. The 500 will do 55mph some closer to 60mph,if I,m capable of riding that fast then I,m on a road not a trail and might as well stayed in my truck which can hit 100mph with music and heat.

I not big on road riding with a ATV, even a street bike can do that.

i have the 06 500 efi. Buddy has a 700 and the only thing he gets me in is top speed. We are big trail and mud riders. I also pull logs and a trailer. You want to make that thing perfomr better, you need 2 things. The epi clutch kit (sport/ utility) and a set of tires. I have maxxis bighorns. the tires are heavier but hte clutch kit makes up for that and the traction i get is well worth it. he can't keep up with me on trails when we really get going cause im lighter and have more pick up and traction (im also a better rider cause i rode sport bikes for years). be happy with the 500 cause it will do anything you ask it too

What he said. My 500 will keep up with the big bore's on the trail all day long. I only fall behind on the road or wide open fields with room to run. But when they need to stop for fuel I've got plenty to spare. On a 8 hour trail ride of about 100 mile in rough terrain my buddy's 800 sp went through about 8 gal and I only went through about 6 gal. And guess what? All that extra power didn't give him any advantage over me.
