Default Tire and Wheel Combo for 2006 LT80?

I was wanting to get some better traction for some winter riding as well as some trail riding this fall.
What type of tire and wheel combo would you suggest for my mostly stock 2006 LT80?
I like the look of those snow hogs but understand that at some point I wouldn't have enough H.P. to pull a lot of tire through the snow.

Thanks,

Troy

The best traction tire I've found is a simple knobby tire.

Ok - excellent. I did not expect that answer Jack. I guess I won't worry too much about it then. It just seemed like all the racers were using some type of tire other than a stock unit.

depending on racing type/terrain. if you're racing snow studded tires may do good but like you said, turning the tires may be a problem at a certain point. I would think in soft snow, any tire that does good in loose fluffy stuff would work. maybe DWTs new mini tires or some GNCC/XC tires. I believe the Razrcross 18x6.5" rear is a XC type tire. the new DWT mini XC tire should be one of the best options. ITP has also recently released some mini tires a quadcross and something else. clearly for MX track *hard pack for example* you'll want tires made for hard pack MX tracks like the DWT mini MX tires, sticky compound and height/width are all optimized for packed track MX

snow hogs suck in loose stuff but they are a snow blower tire so could do good in snow I suppose. we don't have alot of snow here to ride in so I really can't say unless it's like sand? in which case usually gncc/xc tires or mud tires do ok. paddles are the best but mud tires are ok too. sometimes stock radials can do ok too. not sure of the LT80 tho, we run some big fat turf tamer 18x9.5x8" rears and they hook up pretty good. also have snow hogs that are pretty easy to spin/get stuck. running kenda klaw MXs on the sons kasea 90 and they seem better than the snow hogs but they're also a full sized bike 18x10.5x8" so hard to compare... I want to get some smaller/lighter tires on the 90 to see how it does

there are now alot more options for mini tires than just a year or two ago so you're in luck imo good time to start finding out which tires you prefer for what type of riding imo lol. I can't wait to change out tires on my son's bikes just to see how it performs lol. good luck whatever you choose
