Default 150cc gearbox

Anyone know where I can find a Gear Box for a 150cc HI-Bird QH150ST. It is a China built ATV from Reliable ATV. It does not appear to be the Gy6 engine.

Are you sure this is not a GY6 engine? I went looking and every link I could find suggested the hi-bird 150cc engines were GY6. Do you have CVT drive? Plastic shrouds around the cylinder fins?

Is the gear box a transmission with multiple forward gears, or is a forward reverse gearbox that bolts on to what would normally be a scooter rear wheel drive shaft (the GY6 engine was originally designed for scooters).

You might have better luck finding parts for a GY6 engine because they are so common. Assuming it is a GY6 can you post pictures of the gear box? I'm wondering if there are generic gearboxes that will just bolt on. Gy6 engines with forward reverse gearboxes are used a lot on buggies as well as quads. I'm thinking Hi-bird would have bought OEM gearboxes rather than designing their own custom version.

You may be correct. The manuel did say it was a GY6 and the Gear Box looks different. It does appear to bolt on and it has forward and reverse gears.

Let me know what you think.

That is definitely a GY6 engine.

I have a Hensim 150cc GY6 with the forward reverse gearbox bolted on the output shaft. I've seen gear boxes for sale on eBay in the past, but the ones for sale were different than mine. The output shaft that drives the sprocket was offset from the center axis of the gear box, where mine is concentric with the axis.

A few years ago when I had trouble with my almost new quad doing some lurching while going forward at 20 MPH I went searching for solutions. I found the solution on www.buggynews.com. It was a simple adjustment on the forward reverse gear box. Apparently this is a common problem on GY6 powered buggies, and this problem pops up a lot over there. This got me wondering if buggies use the same gear box as my ATV (and maybe yours). I don't know, but it may be worth going over there and asking. They won't know much about ATV's but if you post a picture of the gear box they will help if they recognize it.

OK. I have taken off the Gearbox and the cover to the Clutch / transmission shaft. The Gears in the Gearbox look OK to me but when I turn the shaft by hand the gears do not move. Does this mean that the "gear" shaft is broken?

The beggining issues is the bike will not go forward or reverse. I thought it was the gears were stripped.

I probably don't know the answer (I've never taken on of these apart), but I'm not really understanding the question. Are you talking about the forward reverse gearbox having a broken shaft, or the output shaft of the GY6 engine?

The forward reverse gearbox usually has a neutral position, so if this is the device not spinning the gears ,is it in gear?
