New LT80... sweet build!!!
#1
So, we pulled out the quads this year and my 10 year old said he thought his LT80 was too small/too slow for him. I agreed and we started looking for something bigger.
Looked at some used quads locally; Honda TRX250's... too big and heavy, TRX90's... cool, but I would have had to put money into one to get it right and they weren't cheap to start with.
Then we thought about just tricking out the LT80 with all the usual mods. Starting pricing out the parts and getting ready to buy everything and then I came across this quad on CL: It's a 2001 LT80 with everything you could possibly do to set it up for competitive MX racing.

Specs: Jack Moore built motor and carb (110cc), Trinity pipe, oil block off kit, pull start (in addition to the electric start), Works front and rear shocks, Arizona ATV A-Arms, rear wheel spacers, AC Racing nerf bars, Douglas rims, MX tires, race cut fenders, Tag bars, and lot's of other little tricked out parts.
The quad runs like crazy and handles 1000X better than stock!
This was a great find and now I can just sell the stock LT80 and be done without ever turning a wrench.
Anyone with experience running a similarly set up LT80 have any suggestions or tips they've learned?
We'll be using for mostly dunes and SoCal type riding so I'll probably change a few things here and there, but now at least he'll have the power and suspension to be able to keep up with the big boys.
