Default help pls! honda recon or yamaha wolverine???

Hi! I am about to buy my very first atv and i'm torn between two types. they will be given to me at the same price. my choices are the 2011 hondan recon es 250 and a 2008 yamaha wolverine 350.

here's my thing:
1. i'm a girl, a first time atv rider
2. i'm looking for something that i can ride on trails and hills to ride with my husband and son as they ride their dirt bikes as well as to follow our jeep jk fourwheeling. we're normally in moab and 5 mile in utah.
3. i'm looking for something powerful enough that my husband can ride too at times.

what do you guys think is better between the two?

Out of the 2, I'd say the Yamaha, too.

Any reason in particular you're stuck on a ute instead of sport quad? They tend to be heavier and usually don't handle as well. I understand the hunters, farmers, and ranchers. Some people need the racks or pull a trailer or need 4 wheel drive. Just asking.

Welcome to the forums.

The only problem I'd see with the Wolvy is your husband may not like it because it's an automatic.

But of the two, and both being in equal condition, it's the one I'd choose.

I'm going to go against the other 2 that have posted and say the Recon. I have a ton of seat time on them (and I've never even owned one ) and can say they are one of the most reliable ATV's I have seen. Some of my friend's have rode them like sport quads, while using them for farm use as well, and then get neglected on maintnance, and they still run strong today.

Also, I have tought many to ride for there first time on Recon's, so they are great for beginners. Handle great, lightweight, smooth power. On the other end of the spectrum, I have been riding for over 20 years now have rode/raced/and owned 2, 3, and 4 wheels, and I still can have a blast on a Recon. So I think your husband can enjoy it as well.

I have limited time on a Wolverine, the 4wd is nice, but they aren't nimble in comparison IMO. And then newer ones are automatic and I personally do not like that, but hey, a lof of people do.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums!
My 26 cents.

another thing to factor in is how tall and how much you both weigh- the 250 & 300 are both smaller atv's and might be uncomfortable for any guy over 5'10", his knees will always be bent backwards.
But if you and your husband are smaller- it might be ok...?
