Default 2003 preadator 90 choke problem

My son has a 2003 preadator 90 that is very difficult to start and is getting worse. Once started the quad runs perfect but it is just getting it to start. the choke cable is not binding and works as it should and I see no issues in the carb. I was told that these were once electric choke and has been converted to a cable. When the bike was purchased a year ago it did not have this problem. Any help or advise on how i might fix this would be great

Block the air tube opening with your thumb while on choke, this allows fuel to draw in better. On the older models with the electric choke we even had a "non bulletin" from Polaris to do this for hard starting machines. If this doesn't help, then check compression. OPT (retired and loving it!)

the top end was just rebuilt and has alot more power but the starting problem was unchanged. It used to start perfectly when i first got the bike but it is slowly been getting worse. I would have to think there has to be a fix other than pluging the intake pipe to start it

If blocking intake while starting doesn't help, then check fuel line for good flow, check out carb if you havent't already, plus exhaust systems can carbon up at the head pipe restricting starting and running properly. Also the little 50's and 90's were bad about the stator and flywheel getting trash /mud through the air cover, check that you have good spark. Plus on the top back of the carb is a rubber tube with a red plastic blockoff, the rubber can split causing too much air intake. Several things on the little ones than cause trouble. OPT
