ds650 wont shift

I have a 2002 ds650 that wont shift into any of the up gears - will shift into 1st & neutral but that's it - Ive done a full oil/filter change all is good there - it was given to my 12yr old by a friend - it worked fine prior - please help - thnx

Thnx for the concern - he has been riding since he was 2yr lt50 - 5yr modified lt80 - 10yr modified blaster (currently) - I also have a bomb & he has riden that a few times out at Dumont - he is pretty cautious - I'll keep working on it - thnx again

I'd suspect 1-2 shift fork. Last year mine wouldn't shift into anything, and I thought it might have been the switch but tore into it and it was the shift drum. But since your's is going into 1st, I'd think the shift fork is the cause.

My 7yr old can damn near shift/ride my DS. Does that mean I should I let him ride it??? There are a lot better options our there for a 12yr old than a big fat DS. Why not a 450 class sport machine? If your fine with a 500lb quad coming down on top of your 12yr old then go for it. Just dont expect a pretty outcome. There is no stopping stupid....

Would be MUCH cheaper to do them yourself. Really not that hard of a task. And we are here to walk you through it if you don't have the manual.
