Do it yourself, more you know your bike better of you'll be.

With the age of the bike, I'd probably go ahead and replace the timing chain and rings while ya got it apart. Be two less things to have to worry about.

Funny thing is I know this bike pretty well - I'd say if it has 20-30 hrs on it that's alot - my buddy just never rode it & when he did he didi not ride very hard - that is why I am a little puzzuled

Does anybody know what year they switched to the stronger shift forks? I thought by 02 they had already changed. Maybe he just has something as simple as a clutch adjustment issue. Would hate to see him split the cases only to find its something else.
