I have almost 500 miles on my sportsman and it backfires like mad. Whats up with that?

 

Check the easy stuff first,like change plug,check electrical connections for chaffed/broken wires,etc OPT

 

is it back firing when letting off or all the time?

 

is the etc electronic throttle control set correctly? should have 1/8 inch of slack in throttle cable at thumb throttle, the adjustment is about 4 inches from thumb throttle on cable, if cable is right I would take it to dealer and have them check the mapping on computer

 

Have you done any mod's to it?

 

Tryed to adjust the cable, still doing it. Bringing it to the dealer tommorow
