OK, I read about raptor tranny problems, now the problem has bit my bike. I thought I was having serious problems with brain fade. In one day I missed second gear about 10 times,Then I stopped on the side of oldsmobile hill and the tranny locked in two gears at the same time,I rocked the bike and it freed up. On the way back to camp second gear went to the land of OZ.
I know this is an old subject, but how are the dealers treating you guys and girls. I have three days left on warranty.OUCH

From what I understand, the dealers are only replacing the gears and or bent or broken fork. I don't think Yammi has produced a fix yet. If you haven't read about this in several past posts here ya go. Do you use reverse? I used to, until a guy on the forum Mtecate (I think) said he thought the problem stemmed from using reverse. Since not using reverse, I haven't had that terrible feeling of hitting false nuetral since. It seems as though after using rev, the spring or device used to bring forward gearing back is not strong enough. Therefore, first and or second gear is only being engaged by the teeth ends. This will happen a few times until finally something let's go and either gets stuck or goes out completely. After you take your Raptor in to get it fixed, make sure to call Yammi and voice your concern!
Good luck, Swy

Hey, I took the raptor to the dealer today. The dealer said they just finnished one, and will tear mine down this week. I called yamaha and (sit down for this one) they have no knowledge of any problems with transmissions. They stuck to their word even after I told them the dealer told me that yamaha has developed a tougher part, and delivery is backordered till MAY!!!!!HA. After yam. called the dealer the delivery on parts improved alot. The moral of this story is, while you are pushing your bike call yamaha they will assure you that you are not having a problem.....

p.s. my polaris still runs, till I get back on in may.

I believe it is the shift fork, and maybe the spring.
