Default My new 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI

Hi,

I just bought a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI Stealth today with 950 miles on it. But I noticed that the rear right bushings are wore down. Is it okay to leave them like that? Or should I replace them right away? Photos are below of the bushings.

Thanks, Josh

Okay Thanks.

The brake's indicator window is clear so I am assuming I need to refill the master cylinder. Is this something that a dealer should only perform? Or is it okay for me to change the fluids? Is there anything I should know before I put in new fluids? How far do you fill it?

Thanks.

Just remove the cap and fill to the internal line on the brake master cylinder with dot 4 fluid if fluid looks clear not dark. You can flush the system by locking the brake lever and bleed each caliper and continue adding fluid as you bleed OR you can first use an old towel or cloth and soak up the fluid in the master cylinder and add fluid as you bleed each brake caliper until new fluid is clear coming from bleed screws.May take awhile if you don't have a brake bleeder. DON'T get the fluid on the plastic! Use an old towel under the brake and covering the plastic. Bleed screws take a 1/4" wrench to break losse. OPT

The fluid is pretty clear... not dark at all. The fluid is alittle less then half full where the line is. So just get the dot 4 fluid and add to the fluid that is already in there?

YEP,sounds good! PLUS you might just check around the calipers for any signs of leakage,BUT its normal usually for them to get a little low over the years. OPT

Thanks OPT.

One last question what would the best way to change the bushings? Do I need to lift the ATV and take off the tire? Or just take them off with the tires on?

I always just took the tires off, since I had a lift which made life a little easier, not hard to replace with tires on,just may have to jack up a little to release tension. Also make sure the bushings fit tight in the slots and that they don't twist when replacing. OPT
