Rope start?

I don't think it would matter but I could be wrong. If the battery is dead there will be no fuel to be sent by the fuel pump because the EFI needs a little juice to function. I am sure the EFI guys will help with the answer as well.

If the battery's dead on an efi,a recoil would be of little use. I guess that's one of the reasons they don't have one on the X2. Big600twin is right. Plus could be a way to cut costs on building em also, just like the new 500HO carb model, doesn't have em either. OPT

I'd still buy and install the recoil . If one maintains there battery they should never find themselves in the bush with a dead one . But one never knows when there starter or bendix might crap out thus having the recoil backup you can still get home . Polaris did install recoil backups on some years of EFI'S machines .

Totally agree on the recoil! They supplied em up until the 2008 models and the 09's were just the blank cover. Well worth the 197 bucks (plus shipping) that you can get from Cheap Cycle Parts,OR but a used one on E-bay! I mentioned before that if I had brought one home when I retired it would have been just the 500 HO carb model and would have ordered the recoil assembly! Just a way Polaris is cutting costs and a few corners! Plus the newer electrical systems take less voltage for the ignition and even on efi with an "almost" completely dead battery, a recoil could usually get it cranked to where at least you wouldn't be stranded.
