02 400ex rear axle knocking
#1
Hey guys, I have a problem here, bear with me,
Yesterday I was riding when I started hearing a knocking/clunking sound coming from the rear. Took the bike back to the garage and noticed the right rear hub had came loose. tightened it back up. when i took it out again it is still knocking when i make a right turn. If i make a left, no knock. If i put all my weight on the right and turn right, no knock?
Now i have noticed the rear axle has play up and down/front to back when it is jacked up but no side to side. also, the chain when rotating gets tight and then loose.
Anyone have any ideas here?
Thanks everyone

I agree, also, the crush tube between the bearings may also be worn/rusty/damaged, so take it all apart and get a complete rebuild kit. Or, if you have some spare cash laying around, nows a good time for a tapered roller carrier replacement, 4 times as strong and probably the last set of bearings you will need.

Only experience I have had with All ***** was with wheel bearings...they are great if you like tearing it apart and putting it back together often! Had front wheel bearings from all ***** that lasted 100 miles! They are cheap if that is all you are looking for!
