your float is stuck open. block the petcock valve, pull the carb back off, take the bowl off and clean the float assembly. it's wide open and flooding your machine. fix that and it ought to start and be fine. good luck....if you don't know how to do this simple chore, look on youtube for videos. there's plenty that show you step by step how to do it. good luck.

Hold throttle WIDE open while cranking! Crank case may be flooded? if doesn't clear up,then try changing the plug first. The older model 250 used BPR8ES instead of BR8ES. See if this helps(plug could be trying to foul out?),if this doesn't help you may need to have the compression checked. If compression is at least 100 psi, then you may need to go into the carb and clean and replace the needle and seat. If still runs bad,may have crank seals leaking. Just start with the easy things first! OPT

it has 93 psi compression but the spark doesnt seem to be firing good cuz when you pull the plug it is all wet i cleaned it once but still not enough might need a plug. and when you hold the throtle wide open it doesnt change. it just putts 2 or 3 times and quites. it wont rev up like the throtle isnt working but it is

93 pounds of compression is the major problem! Time to check out the top end, possible new top end needed! Plus being that old, I would have the bottom end checked out also (rod bearing play, crank bearings, etc!) OPT
