Valve clearance settings:
Intake 0.05-0.10mm (0.002-0.004 in)
Exhaust 0.17-0.22mm (0.007-0.009in)

Bend a feeler gauge at about a 30deg angle to fit into the tappet.

Check clearance first to see if you need to change it.

If it is out of specifications.

Remove the valve tappet cover and rotate the engine to TDC.
Loosen the jam nut and tighten the adjusting screw until it is at the desired clearance.
Then tighten the Jam nut while you hold the adjusting screw in position.
Recheck clearance when tightened and go to the next valve.

I will add that the valves are easier to reach if you remove the fuel tank, side plastic and the top engine mount.

They do make a special tool but it is not necessary.

Hope this helps

So the small covers 1 front and 1 back? Right?
Have the tank and side cover and mount off.

All so pulled the air boxs off and did find info about valve clearance and other settings!
Thanks for the help!

I have a 2003 Arctic cat 500 with a Arctic cat winch. I have rope on it now but want to put a steel 3/16 cable on it . How does the old rope come off the drum ? I know it sounds like a dumb question!
