Default How hot does a Scrambler 500 HO exhaust get

Hey, I have a Polaris Scrambler 500 HO and I want to spray paint my exhaust pipe. I got paint given to me that is only good for up to 500 degrees Celsius. Just wondered if this paint would work or if the exhaust gets hotter then 500 degrees celsius.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Raytec laser temperature gun,but never measured the exhaust temp, was always too busy just measuring engine temps! 500 degree Celsius is a little less than 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. Exhaust ain't gonna get that hot!. Should be ok to use on an atv exhaust? If in doubt, get a can of Duplicolor ceramic high heat paint! Best I've ever found that wont chip or flake off as some of the others will! Don't even think about the 1200 degree barbeque paint either as I've seen some use! Won't hold up! At least not on motorcycles Just my OPT

i just painted my exhaust w/ the high temp black paint(like for grills) and i think that is plenty strong enough to resit the temps.

guilty

even roughed up the silencer and used prepsol to clean it- it flaked off first long ride.

do you remember what brand? I've had no luck with any of the high temp wood stove or engine paints- They always seem to flake off for some reason. I think the rotax big bores just make too much heat for paint to last on the pipe.
I was looking at the powder coating systems they sell at harbor freight tools but not sure how well that will stand up to the heat.
