Default UP-UPDATE on 1994 Kodiak Not Starting When Cool.

After tearing down the head the following was found.

1) Heavy carbon build up of head and piston.
2) Cylinder worn on one side (Egg Shaped)
SOLUTION:
Bore cylinder and get oversized piston and rings.

The engine would start when warm due to the expansion allowing for correct compression and no leakage.

CAUSE: The 1994 Kodiak is 17 Years Old with No Top End ever done.

Sounds about right, the heavy build up on the head was from all the blowby from the worn rings/cylinder. With a fresh top end, it should be popping on the first few cranks. Make sure you also replace the valve guides and seals, they will leak oil down into the combustion chamber and cause the start up 'puff' we see on older motors.
