I have a 1996 sportsman 500 with a 2 tube front bumper. The bumper has a winch plate- the bolt holes are 4 7/8" apart and the plate is 2" wide. I am having trouble finding a winch that will mount to this plate. Anyone have any information?

 

I may be off but it sounds like your looking at the point where the fairlead mounts not a winch. You'll want the winch mounted to the actual frame via mounting plate not the bumper! Nearly all winches for an ATV will have the same bolt pattern to mount the winch and or fairlead.

 

your not off. that is where the fair lead mounts. how ever there is another plate that mounts via 4 bolts right behind the plate hes refering too that actually the winch mounts too. it fits in to the tube bumper.
now that being said i'll give you some real good advice on being careful on what winch you buy(speaking from experince less then 1 month ago) that only the warn style ci winches will fit because of the tight tolences of the mounting plate which bolts to the tube frame. hope this helps you.
