Old Trail Boss 250
#1
Hey OPT, I forgot to run this by you the other day, but we have an old trail Boss 250 that our niece rides a lot with us on and it runs great, but on warm days it's a real bear to start, when the engine is warm. Every time we stop for a water break we have to throw holy water on it to get her cranked up; acts almost like it's vapor locked. It starts for us every time, but it usually takes a few minutes to get her rolling again.
I was wondering if you have any advice on how to make it a little less temperamental on during warm weather.

Check the fuel tank vent running up into the steering post hole, could be kinked starving for air, plus check the carb vent tubes for touching the exhaust pipe, restricting air to the carb. If all these are ok,could be engine is loosing compression(either from top end or crank seal distortion) when it gets warm. Also depending on the model I've had some of the fuel petcocks that would vibrate and turn slightly shutting down fuel to carb. OPT
