I bought an 02 sportsman 700 and the complete speedo is not working. Won't light up or anything. I have power coming in and out of all 3 fuse packets under the hood, I have power in the 12 pin connector in pins 1,2,and 7 (1:red, 2:red stripe, 7: brown with yellow stripe). Put a new battery in it fully charged it, tried a new speedo and still won't turn on at all! 4wd won't work, presumably because the speedo is out. Please help!!!!

Can anyone tell me exactly where all the grounds contact the frame or where they're grounded. Want to clean them up and see I that fixes it.

 

Check under the front panel,should be ground wires tied into the frame.Plus could be a ground wire on the frame close to the battery(can't remember off hand if there is?) On another note if you haven't changed out the ignition system (Ducati) this system will fail! There is an update kit #2202602 (around $475) that completely changes the flywheel,stator,cdi,coil,and regulator rectifier! DON'T know if this may or may not have anything to do with your speedo problems also! OPT
