Polaris scrambler axle upgrades
#1
I have my scrambler 500 with 28" mudzillas and I was ripping though 17" of snow
And my cv joint finaly gave out. So my question is has anyone on here upgraded
the axles on a scrambler! Im just wondering if I should upgrade the whole axle
Or just upgrade the cv joint and get new ujoints?

I am not an expert (have said it before) but in my experiences on my cars if I change something on one side I replace both sides and typically I dont just replace the single part (example tie rod I change the inner and outer even if its just the outer that is bad) you already have it torn apart you might as well do it right and not have to worry about it or tear into it again to replace another part. yes its a few extra dollars but its also peace of mind knowing that you did it right and not "rigged it" or did a half a$$ed job on it just my 2 cents worth

ya that was my plan I wanna replace both sides! But like I said im trying to see if any one
On here upgraded there polaris axles? To see if it's worth it to upgrade the whole axle
Or just upgrade the cv joints?

About as cheap or cheaper to replace the whole shaft as just part of it! Have done this before and don't like to replace part of a drive shaft(especially on the rear on cv and plunging joints, have been snake bit before when I've done this and costs more to buy the cv and plunging joint separately if the other one goes out!) Irinman2424 gave you a good reply as far as replacing both sides and not piece by piece! As far as stronger drive shafts just look at Gorilla drive shafts(plus there are other manufacturers) and see if that's what you looking for. The shafts are stronger and thicker, also the cv joint is stronger. Might be what you want for the front on the Scrambler! OPT

Yeah if you want a stronger axle get gorillas, they are probably around 375 apiece. You will have to check to see what axles will fit your bike, I haven't seen them listing axles for scramblers but I would think that they would be the same as the magnums or explorer but not sure. They also come with a one year warranty.
But I agree you can probably buy a whole half shaft for about the same price as rebuilding just the outer joint.

I looked at gorilla axles and they do make axles for the scrambler but 375 a peice is crazy
Has any one ever used the ebay axles! I just looked at axles for my scrambler that are made out of the same metal and are only 125 ! The only difference is gorilla replaces the front u joint for a cv so there axles have two cv instead of one ! heres a link what do you guys think?

They both say chromoly but the axle off of ebay isn't entirely made of it. It is expensive and harder to machine from my understanding. Alot of times they put that but only part of the axle is chromoly. If your stock axle has lasted you quite a while then I would get the one off of ebay, it will be similar to stock. However if you have your bike lifted or are running bigger tires then you may want to upgrade.
