Default Scrambler issue Old Polaris Tech help please

Ok I have a 2001 Polaris Scrambler 500 and I am trying to figure out what is going on. I made a post a week or two ago about my scrambler not running with the newer models. Well I was riding sat and it ran great was even beating the newer scramblers . Ok well I could pull the front end of the ground and everthing. Then it started again instead of accelerating and revving like it was suppose to when I would hit the throttle it would go but it would not accelerate and run like it was. Also it would go back to running good and then it would go back to not running like it was. Even when i was riding slow i could feel it pick up when it wanted to run good again. I have taken apart the carb and there needle and seat was worn. Is it getting to much fuel or is it something else. I have a carb rebuild kit on the way. I just want it to run like that all the time. Btw just replaced petcock, spark plug, belt, and chain. Thanks

if its running good then running not so good then back and forth I would check the jets may be a little piece of dirt in there blocking then bouncing around and opening up again

The thing is I just too the carb apart and cleaned it out hoping that would help and is still does it. But seeing the wear on the valve needle was really bad so I ordered the rebuild kit. I cleaned it pretty good I felt. I even moved the clip on the needle up one notch. But it still runs about 50/50 like it should.

Just cleaning a carb without replacing worn parts, makes it just a double job! Best to simply order a kit before you even take it apart. OPT

I agree it does make alot more work. It just sucks waiting for my parts to come in the mail. If I was not very impatient then I would have left it open. lol Thanks for all the input everyone. I am just glad its an easy fix. Time consuming but easy.

Update............................................ .................
I PUT THE NEW CARB KIT IN AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM FUEL LEAKING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CARB AND IT IS 50 /50 ACTING LIKE IT SHOULD. Also I can turn the fuel off and it seems like when it burns off the excess fuel it runs perfect. But not to long after dies from no gas. Also I have no issues with idle just poor performance. When its running good it rips and will pull the front end off the ground. I am abut ready to give up it is really frustrating. Any thoughts

If you didn't replace the float pin or in a lot of cases the float lever itself too, it can bind and stick allowing too much fuel! Plus if you can wobble the float arm side to side, time to replace these two items!Still sounds like you're getting too much fuel for the engine plus the fuel level is to high or float lever is binding up,
part of the fuel is going out the over flow tube, rest in the engine! Just remove the float bowl and check out the float arm and float needle for wear. The inside of the float lever will be enlarged and shiny and the float pin usually will be worn down where it has be rubbing the float lever! Normally the float setting is pretty close to parallel with the carb body when you hold it up side down in most cases. You can always temporarily pry the little float lever tab a small amount DOWN which raises the height of the float lever(lowering fuel level in the bowl and shutting off fuel quicker)try this out and see how it does. May help until you get the float lever and pin IF needed! Plus make sure the floats themselves are free moving in the carb bowl. OPT
