2001 trailblazer stumbles and no power
#1
Well, after a month or so of sitting i wanted to get the bike up and going for a camping trip in three weeks. I bought it 6 weeks ago and it ran good. I turned too on checking fluids and looking for issues that it might, have but never ran it since i brought it home.
last thing i did was drain the fuel out of it before parking it. Today i filled it up and had issues starting it, finally got it choke enough to start and it idled alright for being cold, but there was a lack of power after warming up. to the point that in forward gear and full throttle it wouldn't move and I could tell it wasn't getting gas with the way the engine sounds. I don't believe its the clutch belt not grabbing because of the off idle and hard running symptoms
Are these carbs user friendly where I can take it off and put it in a carb dip, and spray carb cleaner around the intake to possibly clean it up, or am i going to get a jack in the box spring of parts if i take it off?

Just pull the air box out of the way, remove the carb(you can leave all cables connected) and pull the float bowl and you will probably see the problem! Probably will be gelled up on the floats, float arm, plus the jets will probably need to be remove and cleaned. If needle and seat is pretty gelled up just replace it don't try to clean it. Use a good stabilizer in the fuel like Marine Stabil or Star Tron and you wont have to deal with this problem any more. I cleaned many carbs in the spring for the pleasure riders and again in the fall for the hunters that didn't preserve the fuel. The fuel now days can take as little as a month or so to go bad because of the ethanol. You can use spray carb cleaner with the spray tube on the jets and brass parts and cleaning out the float bowl. OPT
