What r struts?

I've always woundered whats the difference between struts and shocks? Please explain it to me <IMG SRC="http://forums.atving.com/ubb/redface.gif">

Boger,
Struts always have only one A-arm to them. A shock will normally have two A-arms. This is because the strut itself takes the place of one of the A-arms. A strut is used to turn the front wheels where as on a shock suspended machine the tie rods are usually attached to the spindles. On a regular suspension (dual A-arms), during the wheel's upward travel the tires have pretty much the same camber as they do when the suspension is at rest. On a strut equiped machine the camber changes as the suspension moves upward.
