Default Big oops!

Yesterday I was changing the oil in my 2012 Polaris 550 browning edition.
loosened the dip stick and started the machine to warm it up.
Why oh why did I loosen the dipstick!!
Big mistake.
Heard a loud bang and the dip stick popped partially out and oil splattered out.
Now for the problem.
The bottom part of the dip stick is gone sheared off into the engine.
What are my options if any other than dis assembly of the engine to clean the crankcase out of plastic bits?

Welcome to the forum! Done been there and done that one! Not me or my guys at the shop, but had a customer do the same thing when they first came out with the 850 and broke a long piece off the dipstick. Couldn't get it out because it was too long and couldn't get it upright to pull it out couldn't get it out through the drain either. My helpers had the pleasure of splitting the engine to get it out. You would think plastic wouldn't hurt an engine but if pieces got caught up in the rings you could basically destroy a cylinder, piston ,etc. This is good warning to all 550 and 850 owners not to unscrew the dipstick while running! Hope you can get it out without having to tear it down. OPT

Hey OPT,
You were spot on.
Took the machine to my mechanic at the dealer and he is going to split the engine.
My 35 dollar oil change is turning into a several hundred dollar one.
I hereby resolve to never do any service myself that requires any smarts at all.
