Need HELP Removing Wolverine U-joint yoke
#1
I've been trying to remove the yoke from the front of the engine on a Wolverine. The drive shaft came out without a problem, as did the bearing caps (or what was left--LOL!!)
How in the world do you get the nut off the end of the shaft where it connects to the yoke?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!

Why are you trying to take it off?? I looked at taking mine off when I was replacing u-joints, but thoughht that even if I did get it apart and the new u-joints in, there was no way that I was going to get that nut back on and tight. I left it on and did u-joints with it still in place..a pain in the *** for sure!! I don't remember for sure what size the nut is or whether you can get a socket on it even with the u-joint out of there...if you can get a socket on it, you should be able to turn it with the resistance coming from the front wheels!

I have to replace the yoke against the engine due to the fact when the joint failed, it pitched in the yoke and literally wore the one end off the yoke...
I have to remove the yoke from the front differential because the oil seal is leaking so badly.................
Any thoughts on how to get the nut off the yoke? I'm pretty sure they're 23 mm nuts. Impact wrench doesn't budge them...

All:
Got both yokes off the Wolverine today. One is completely shot; never seen any wear quite like this!!! Boy, are those Yamaha parts pricey!! One complete yoke set, bearings, two oil seals, and clips was almost $400...
Glad I'm not paying for it! Oh well, the customer's happy the problem was identified before the shaft launched out of the machine....

I soaked both nut/joint areas in Aero-Kroil overnight, then attacked them with a 22mm and impact wrench the next morning. Came right out!!
Didn't even have to hold the yoke!
Tom
Now, I'm waiting on the parts to arrive...boy, are those Yamaha parts expensive!!!!!
