Default 1985 350x (deal or no deal?)

Ok, so here it is: 1985 350x 3 wheeler

I have seen these things for sale for well over $1,000. I'm pretty sure I can get this thing for around $700-800... So should I do it? I haven't gone to look at it just yet but if I do I'll probably end up buying it lol.

Opinions please

Looks like the fork seals are leaking...just look it over real good, it's not hard to tell if it was abused or not. Grab hold of the rear grab bar and give it a good shake side to side and up and down a little. If you have a lot of play in the swingarm or the axle you'll need to replace bearings. Run it and take it for a test ride and even if the owner says he just changed the oil/did a tune-up or whatever don't trust him. I always change oil, replace plug, replace air filter, adjust clutch and valves, and lubricate any needed parts/linkages on any machine I buy as soon as I get it home. I don't think you can go wrong at $700-$800 it is worth at least that even if you had to part it out. Good luck!

Another thought...

If that is in Roswell, NM who knows, maybe it is powered by some crazy alien technology lol

Ok, so I ended up getting this thing for $500. The plastic is cracked (still works but needs stitching), the rear brake didn't work, it was BONE dry. I serviced it and it works fine, doesn't seem to leak at all. The bike fires up pretty fast but if I drop the choke all the way it dies. So, I am thinking the idle jet is gummed up. There are a few things I wanna do to this bike over time but first and foremost, I wanna get it running better.
What do you guys think? This trike seems so much fun to ride. I told my family "it's so much fun it should be illegal, wait, it is". Lol

Not illegal at all lol. It has never been illegal to own and ride them. It was however a consent to ban the production of them. If the atv manufacturers wanted to start making them again they have every right to do so. Since there is no demand for them anymore (because of all the bad publicity they received in the 80's) we will never see any them mass produced again. Kinda sad if you ask me.

Yeah, I was referring more to the fact that they banned the manufacture of them and have the perception they are so very dangerous lol. Even the buddies I work with that are all ATV crazy are convinced they are illegal. I love it though, lots of fun.

Which is really too bad. Anyone can ride a 4 wheeler, 3 wheelers require a little more thought and are SO much more fun to ride IMO
