Angry Honda ATC 200 problems

Hi everyone, i have a atc200 1985 model, iam looking for a cdi unit for it, but none over here in uk! I believe mine is a 200 es but not sure, the cdi unit has the round plug type with 6 pins, there is the No 969 on the connector of the cdi and then printed on the black resin of the unit is 4.4 092. I have seen some on Ebay with the round plug type to suit a 200 s, 200x but none for a 200es! can anyone tell me if one of these would be ok? or has anyone got one that will do?
thanks in advance.

First off, you need to check your model and year. There was no 200e or es made in 1985, only the 200s, 200m, and 200x, as well as the 250es. You can check this by using the VIN decoder, Decode Your Honda ATC VIN, then re-check for the part you need.

We can purchase these locally here in Ontario Canada, but you do need the correct model and year, try this website, Royal Distributing 2012 Spring/Fall Catalogue - Section 06 - Pages 130-143.

Look at the tag on the front of the frame RH side behind the headlight to find out the exact year/model. And no a CDI from another model that is not the exact same dimensions will not work. I've tried it. Sometimes they will interchange between a 200m/ 200e but if you have the large cdi on a reverse shaft drive trike only the large one will work on it.

Hi,

I have a CDI unit from a 1984 200ES Big Red. I'm not sure if it’s compatible with the ATC 200 or not.

Also have other parts available.

A 200, 200s & 185/185s have a square plug, a 200es has a round plug, will not work. The 200m & 200e have round plugs that will clip into the 200es but will not work as it is a different cdi unit all together...

First of all you should take out the spark plug if it's completely make red then you should buy a new one but if it's ok then you should pull it out give it a good clean but obviously not with water. After that is clean you should check the ends of the parts that get attached to the plug and clean them and if that doen't work then phone a local mechanic or pull the engine apart and clean it. Oo and one other thing check that there's enough oil and you have the correct mix of fuel because I had someone phone me and say that the fuel was wrong. Hope it works and good luck.) .
