new to me 1987 TRX 125
#1
Hi All, Im new to the site.
Just picked up 1987 TRX 125 from a friend he had owned it for a few years and needed more room in the garage, he road it only a few times, he bought it from the original owner. Its seems in good shape given its now 25 years old...best thing it doesnt smoke
Anything I need to do to keep it running for another 25 years.
I have changed the front tires...it still had the factory original tires on front.
I have changed the stock two piece air filter to a new one piece foam filter
I have changed the oil, and replaced the small oil filter in the engine case(about the size of a old 35mm film case)
Runs fine and cranks right up, spark plug is black and sootly, so its running a little rich. Gas tank is great no rust inside very solid, petcock filter is clean
Clutch is adusted and shifts fine
Checked brakes shoes, look about 50 % worn, so I plan on replacing them later
Chain and spockets look very good no excessie wear given age and chain slack is less than .5 inch
Checked front end toe is good, dont want to scurb down the new tires.
Flat out on the street it still runs 35-40 mph, not bad for old 125
