Default Kazuma Jaguar 500 Electrical fault

I recently bought a Jaguar 500. It runs and goes really well for an hour or two and then for no apparent reason stops and will not start. It will turn over but not fire. I tested the spark and there was none. I sent the CDI unit back and the people in Melbourne sent me a new one and the bike went fine again until the same thing happened again. After leaving the bike for an hour or so I tried again and it started without an issue. Turned off and started it again and even went for a ride no issues. Then the same again. I ordered and paid for another CDI unit and put it under the seat and waited for it to fault again. After a days riding it did the same again. I unplugged one CDI unit and plugged the new one in. It still had no spark. Can anyone assist me. Is it the Magneto or a regulator or some other gremlin. I am very happy with the bike but this is an issue that I need to fix. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Rod

Default Kazuma 500 Electrical...

Good day Rod,

I trust all is well on your side. With regard to the non cutting out & non starting issue with your Kazuma 500. I also purchased a Kazuma about two years ago. I had the exact same issue with my quad. It would rund for about a half an hour & just cut out. I replaced the torch spark plug with a NGK. It helped a bit, but the quad would still every now & then cut out until one day it would not start at all. To find out that the CDI unit blew. So I removed CDI unit & sent it back to the agents, who then sent me a new unit. The quad started & ran perfect for a while, until it all started again. The CDI blew for the second time. The reason for the CDI units to go like that, I do not know. But its annoying & hair raising when I drive up an embankment & the quad decides to cut out.
What I have done is remove the electronics & changed my quad to points & condenser. It is a lot of work, but it works & I have not had any problem since.

did you happen to notice if the CDI and/or the voltage regulator is getting hot and overheating? did you check the pins inside the quick connect fittings/connections? to me, it starting to sound like overheating of some components.

Hi,

I've had my quad for two years now. I kept blowing the CDI till a point where I had enough. Yes I noticed the CDI getting hot, causing the quad to cut out. I don't know what the climate is like where you are. Here in South Africa we have a very hot climate. So, I'm not sure if that could be the cause of this CDI to overheat like it does. I have changed it to points & condenser, to cut out the electronics. It works well for me. As I mentioned before, its a lot of work & there is engineering involved. Luckily for me I have all the machinery to do all of this, but it can be done. I don't know if I can insert images to show you how I've done it. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this, but if you can send me your e-mail address, then I can send you the images with a video clip of the quad running with points & condenser.
